Momma gave me the thumbs up on a paint job tonite... A friend, who is a professional, is doing some work on the side. $500 for a full paint job, including the fairing. Includes sanding, fixing a bad repair on the trunk, gloss black with a yellow pinstripe.

I am thinking I might do it. But that means the bargoyle moniker may have to be replaced. What to do?

Sounds like a good deal to me. I wish I could find someone around here that would do it for $500.:grinner:

My neighbour tells me that $500 wouldn't pay for the paint for the fastest colour :18red:

True, BLACK paint is rather expensive.

It doesn't matter, REDWING's neighbor's 1800 will be faster than our lesser bikes no matter what color we paint them, but my old 86 sure looked great painted Ford Jade Green! She was a beauty!

What colour are you thinking of??

My 1200 Aspy looks rather fetching in 2 tone silver/blue, even if its a bit tired.

Many 1200's here in NZ were a red/brown colour and I like the silver.

The new 1800 however does look very nice in illusion blue.

Candy Red does seem to be the colour for the 1500, which in my opinion is the prettiest Goldwing of the lot.

UBARW

Just reread your post:gunhead:

Gloss Black with a yellow pin stripe, you'll make a good friend with Black Bart.

Have a look at "come show us your wing" page 2

I love my red 1500, but alas it isn't as pretty as the GREEN 1200.

$500.00 sounds like a great deal for a pro paint job! I wish I could have found such a deal. My 83 std. was in great shape when I got it except too many scratches in paint. I lucked up and found a complete set (fenders, tank and side panels) from a bike that had been "chopped" back in the eighties. They had been in good dry storage for almost 20 years. They were not perfect but close. I went from a brown wing to a black wing overnight.:jumper::jumper::jumper:

Nope always thought the green 1200 was a better looking bike.

I have been looking at that yellow gl1800 that was out a few years ago. I like it. In fact, I bought my new helmet to match just in case I got a yeller one.

If I ask my paint guy to try and match it, what color do I tell him? Is there a specific name or formula I can give him?

Thanks!
