I went to the local 'Batteries Plus' store and got an AGm maintenance free battery. The guy said it was the stock brand for newer Harleys (Though not made by them, sigh of relief) and it is serving well. The Sears Die-Hard I had lasted more than 7 years and I never even looked at the thing.
A fella on the site here said on his maint free he adds about a cc of distilled H2O annually and his battery has lasted longer. Anywho...
I just purchased my second battery from "Batteries Plus " I got the X2-18L X2Power AGM Battery . The bike cranks over well and starts very quick .
This replaces the same model/type battery which served me for 28 months . My bike is riden daily .
Batteries Plus has other choices as well 1500CC 1990 to 2000 - GL1500SE Gold Wing SE - Honda - Motorcycle - Batteries Plus
For you folks who can use a battery 5,6,7 years please do tell how . I seen other folks report this . IS it the Florida heat that keeps mine from long life or daily usage ?
I ride as close to daily as possible. Is there a chance your alternator is overcharging and boiling off some of the distilled in the battery? I would pop the top of the battery every couple months and be sure the electrolyte level stays consistent.
Sorry fo the almost hijak.
Bump!!
I second the odyssey, great battery had mine two years so far in the 1500, and a battery tender jr. good battery tender will add years of life to a battery, I have a powersonic brand in my 1100I been in their for over six years great battery also.
I as well as "on a wing and a prayer" have recently installed an X2-18L from Batteries Plus.It tested at 330cca. My 2 year old Bikemaster battery tested at less than half of that.My bike starts so fast now! the way it should!:hi: ( $ 130.00 ....well worth it!)
I have been an Odessey fan for a long time. I have always ran them in my Vmax's. My wing needed one & I done a bunch or searching today & found one for $ 108 bucks shipped. http://sepbatteries.com/pc680-odyssey-battery
I bought a Chrome branded agm off ebay, shipped by USPS for free, battery was $66, heckof a deal. almost impossible to get anything shipped to Alaska cheaply, and the local stores wanted over $200 including Napa.
