If you want an outstanding ride and can get to Ky, try the area in the link below. Sky Bridge and Nada Tunnel area is awesome! The whole area is better than Deals Gap area for winding roads, and with much better views. You'll see a lot more than hillside and drop-off.

On the other hand, if you want to see some of the prettiest country road riding in the region, the route in the next link is a great ride as well. Through horse country, fresh cut fields, winding friendly country roads and a great mix of route, this can't be beat either.

I love riding in KY, and I have been on parts of both of those, stayed in Mt. Sterling on the way to NC from IL. Secondary roads the whole way. 421 from Madison IN to Frankfort is a nice ride. Also there is a really neat ride from Frankfort toward Lexington but darned if the name or route number escapes me.
