I am in SW Florida(Ft Myers area) and I use Jim's Cycle Shop who is factory trained and one damn good mechanic... His web site is http://www.jimscycleshoponline.com/... He is well respected in the area... His rates are fair and he is great...
I have located
mechanic by the name of Russ.
He has a business card at a shop called Street Rider here in Reno NV. (next to Kawasaki dealer on motor cycle row , frontage to Hwy 395/580 near Moana exit.)
The Street Rider shop does not work on Gold Wings, the reason the manager said was "they are to time consuming".
Ok my 1985 Interstate carb rebuild is gonna cost me $150 labor. Parts came to $270 because I bought a new battery for $130.
He is soaking the carbs because they were really dirty. All float valves were caked with
Nasty residue. The bike sat for 3 years. He tested the fuel pump in while I was thee and it pumped 8 oz a min. Supose to be 16.9 oz. I am gonna vacume the tank once more .today and add new gas again since it still smells like something other that good gas.
i just picked this up from a post a minute ago:
no personal knowledge of this gentleman, so Caveat Emptor.

Hey everyone, got an 84 aspy with carb issues. Looking for someone that knows these carbs that wants to take them on for me. I'm in southern California, hemet area. Willing to go 100 miles for the job to get done. Any takers? We should talk first, the issue may end up being a simple rebuild, but some of the details are unique.
