The older wings will crank with the kill switch off but won't start. That's good for running the battery down. Glad to see they changed it. I always shut mine down with the kill switch. Lets me know its working and stays in my mind that it is there. Even though I use it all the time, I have still on occasion forgot to turn it back on and crank on the starter for a bit and sit there is astonishment saying, what the hell it wrong with this thing!
