planning a ride the end of next week to the Blue Ridge Parkway heading North to South. I am looking for lodging recommendations in Front Royal or the vicinity. This is the first time doing this ride and I would welcome any lodging or dining suggestions in the area ..

It sounds like you are starting with Skyline Drive at Front Royal. I did part of it and regretted not having time to do it all. I didn't stay nearby but there seemed to be a lot of options depending on whether you wanted to just hole up for the night or spend some time chilling out.

I 2nd this recommendation. Awesome folks that run it and it's well maintained. Thing is, you may get to your buddies house before getting this far south on the BRP to use this campground. It's worth bookmarking though.

My buddy and I have stayed in the Scottish inn there, close to the parkway..

Older building but clean enough. It was raining really hard and they let us park the bikes under the carport where they keep their car. All motels there are not cheap..$70 and up in Sept.

there is a really good 50's diner around the corner on rte 55 just past the burger king.dont remember the name but its just part of a square building across from the small mall there.. really good breakfast/lunch/diner at nice prices.

We usually stay at the campground just outside of town closer to the parkway. It used to be a KOA. Nice an quiet in Sept. dont know about Aug as they said they are busy then. Lots of camping cabins for about $45-$50
