Can anyone tell me if there is a aftermarket or substitude available for GL 1000 breaker points. Part number and brand will help.

I don't know where you can get them.
However CB-450 Points work really good on Gl-1000.
Check out Randakk's pages.

See if you can find a Dyna Ignition, it is electronic, replaces the points.
That is what I use.

If you want to ride and not worry about it kb0ou has it right. Dyna is the way to go. A basic unit is less than $120 US. The complete upgrade including coils and wires to really give you a worry free system is about $255 US. For just the points

Left points 30204-292-003

Right points30203-292-003



Any points manufacturer should be able to cross those numbers. There are around 8 -10 different manufacturers that I have seen.

Like everyone said, I'd go with the Dyna, I changed mine out and been happy with it, next step for me is the coils and wires
