On Sunday August 14th, over 400 motorbike enthusiasts will gather in Dublin’s City Centre for the 5[suP]th[/suP] Annual Bubble Gum Motorcycle Run in aid of The Bubble Gum Club. After a hearty breakfast, all participants will take to the streets of Dublin, making their way to the scenic countryside of Kildare to Mondello Racetrack in a bid to raise over €50,000 for The Bubble Gum Club.
The motley crew will begin to de-throttle and dismount their bikes for an afternoon filled with fun entertainment and well earned Big Al’s Barbeque. With fun for all the family including Bouncing Castles going on during the day, Mondello will be a hive of activity and a great day out including Mattie Griffin performing his infamous stunts, the Bridgestone Man of Steel Competition and a very special Car – v Kart v Motorcycle Race with Jim Purcell racing in a Formula Ford car against Martin Finnegan on a Vitrans Ken Kate Honda and Gary Agnew in a 250 Kart. The Race of Champions has been a prestige event in the Irish Karter’s year since the early 60’s and is organised and promoted by the Irish Karting Association. At the end of the day, one lucky rider will drive off on a BMW FS650 Motorbike, donated by Joe Duffy Motorrad. The Bubble Gum Club was set up in 1994 to look after children with life threatening illnesses and children in crisis. Life is for enjoying, experiencing and living to its fullest. So that these children, who generally have a shorter time than the rest of us can get the maximum out of life, we pack in as much fun as we can. Since it’s inception 10 years ago, the Bubble Gum Club has looked after over 5,000 children. According to these children’s consultants, the trips and events organised by the Bubble Gum Club can add months and even years to the children’s’ lives as it gives them something special to look forward to and reminisce about.[/align]
