This is exactly what I was going to do until I found the bike I bought that came with it's own matching trailer. Bike and trailer ('85 1200a) for $5k. I felt it was worth it. But the paint on bike and trailer both match and the tow package was already mounted on the bike.

What is the registration procedure on your trailer? Do you need to reg something that small? I'm in Louisiana and just curious.

Post a pic when you are done.

I am sure you will have to check with each local state but in Utah you don't have to register a trailer if it will never weigh more than 750 pounds. This means laden or unladen. If your trailer weighs less than 750# empty but you load it and it weighs more than 750# you will need to register it.

The trailer I pull on my bike weighs less than 750# and I will never load it to be over that weight so I don't have to register mine. I DO, additionally, insure my trailer as a separate item from the bike.

Additionally, The trailer I have has a rolling hitch that allows me to lean the bike into turns and the hitch swivels to allow the trailer to remain level as it trails. And, as with ANY towed vehicle, you must drive it differently. The additional weight will make your bike handle differently. There will be a learning curve. Adjust your riding habits and the habits of those riding with you.
