yep, Im finally buying one.

Heres a little back story, the 85 Aspy is still around, my dad rides it but it needs a stator replaced now. He was giving it to me but then I was going to buy one of my uncle's bikes. He decided I wouldnt take good enough care of it so I said screw it. Ive been looking around for an older bike for a winter project and I finally found one.

Its an 82 Honda Magna 750. All the parts are there, they just need assembled. The tank needs sealed inside but thats about the extent of the major stuff. Ill try to post pics of the progress but itll be a few weeks before I go pick it up.

Ive got some pics from the guy im buying it from, if photobucket will work Ill upload them.

well now I dont know if Im getting it or not. The guy has no title and got it from a friend in Indiana. Hes in Ohio. So one of them is going to have to get a duplicate title, depending on if the guy i was buying it from ever had the title. If not hes going to have to get ahold of his friend in Indiana and get him to get a duplicate. :( I dont think its ment to be for me to have a bike. :crying:

It might not be meant for you to have this bike; but if you want one bad enough, you will find the right one for you. Have patience and you will be rewarded!

Your right! Today coming back from town I found the same bike for sale for 700 bucks. Its the same think, 82 Honda Magna v45 that needs a little TLC but its in better shape than the one above in the pics. Gunna talk to them about it tommorow. :)

I ran back down the road earlier and looked the bike over briefly. Looks pretty good. From what I could see cosmetically it needs a seat and a set of grips. It was getting dark so i couldnt see everything but Ill check it out better tomorrow.

I sat on it and it felt ok. Last bike I was riding usual was a vtx 1800r (the one I was going to buy off my uncle) so naturally the magna is gunna feel a little small, just dont want one uncomfortably small in height and width. Guess Ill have to test ride it to see how it really feels before I actually decide on it or not.

Sounds like it will work out for you. I wouldn't touch the no title bike with a ten foot pole, unless there are some parts you want to use on the other one you found. No title I'd say 150-250 for a parts bike and tell him you're doing him a favor getting it out of his garage.

I'd have to agree with 84GrayWing- without a title, it's not worth much.

Having said that, that's the same engine I have in my VF750S Sabre (you'd have the cruiser, I have the sport version). That engine, the first production 16-valve V-Four, is absolutely AWESOME! It's a "street gentrified" version of what Honda was racing, in the late 1970's.

I bought an 82 Sabre in 2003, and....I was stunned! You can easily be climbing through 100mph at the end of a short freeway ramp...the tach just heads for the sky! NOT that I've ever DONE that, of course!

The shaft drive and water cooling (love it) also gives it reliability...I "bagged" my last state (Alaska) on my VF750S...it was fine, on an endless sequence of 700+ mile days...so....

Get the title, and buy it! :cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:

If that doesn't work out, I have an '81 CX500 ready to ride with new tires and a '77 GL1000 with a few minor issues also with new tires.

I would love to have an older wing before they started putting the fairings on but I am still kinda on a budget. Was more looking for a project and found the magna for 700, gunna save it up and buy it off of them if they dont sell it before then but I doubt it because theyve had it for several months now.

The CX is only $900 with a clear GA title in my name. Comes nekkid with a mini bolt on windscreen. No leaks, new fork seals, new front master cylinder and ready to ride.
I should be getting some leather saddle bags back from my brother I can throw in.

Starts and runs well.

Man, those are purdy.
Mine would be a project bike to get it to that level.
But I'll bet it runs as good as those.

I like the first one. It has crash bars so my wife would love it knowing she wouldn't get pinned again.

The CX is a great bike, I had one before I bought the GL1100 and loved it.

Mine was a 1981 CX 500 Deluxe
