The wife and I are planning a camping trip next summer, we have decided instead of riding all the way across Kansas we will trailer our bikes. We have a horse trailer with living quarters that we can put the bikes in the back. We are looking for a motorcycle friendly campground in or around Durango Colorado we could stay in as a base camp to ride out from every day. If there are any members in that area that could recomend a campground that would be great.

Contact Wilton for information, he lives in that area(Montrose, Colo) and hosted NASSIR2.

I've never heard of a campground that wasn't motorcycle friendly.

I went to a campground in Concan, TX on Labor Day weekend, the last weekend they were open. The sign out front said NO Motorcycles. They let my sorry butt on the grounds, so I don't know if that meant dirt bikes, or whatever...

It is on the Frio river, just South of Garner State Park.

But...I think that, in terms of SW Colorado, they are fairly safe...anything/anyone not "motorcycle friendly" has gone out of business there, by now? :baffled: :waving:

Our trip to and from NASSIR2 included 5 campgrounds in CO, UT,and AZ. 3 of them gave a motorcycle discount. I don't think you will have any problems finding someplace that is bike friendly.

The wife and I have been camping on the motorcycle many times and several times using KOA's and found them to be friendly even when we had the loud Harley.
