Hey Guys,

Had a quick look thru the search but couldn't find an answer.
My speedo has stopped working. Cables ok and the odo clicks up the miles but needles not moving. Just wondered if its worth/easy trying to rebuild it.
Bearing in mind I just tried cleaning up my starter motor and its still slow when hot and another I thought I'd try and rebuild won't even bench spin, guess you've figured my skill level.

to top it off had my second bicycle this month stolen

Ho hum

BenMC,

Very carefully with small tools. It can be done.

The next problem is rolling the crimp back on to the speedometer. A well equipped sheet metal shop may have a bead former that could do it. A nearby speedometer shop might do it for a small fee.

Most of the newer speedometers don't have any housing but are protected only by the dash they are mounted in. They may no longer have the tools to roll a bezel back on to an instrument.
