what I would like to do is:

Change the setting for "Receive an email when you get a PM" to "yes"

we are having members ask about how to find riders close to them in their state.

Utah is the state of interest tonight.

but, if those folks don't log in once in a while, they will never see the PM.

:(

would be neat, but no way am I going to try and do all of them manually.

what I do, is try to catch someone saying they want to PM a member who has not been on in a while, I will attempt to fix the 'email issue' before they get there and write up their PM

We can maybe make a friendly suggestion in the form of a notice that members could dismiss. Probably not everyone will do it, but there may be some that listen.

what about making a set of States threads as a sub-category with each State having a list where we can post = if we want to be contacted about rides?

Tom we have the Events forum now for that use.

I am totally against adding more sub forums.

That fragments activity and makes the job of a Moderator almost impossible.

I have seen how that works and activity slows down on those forums. Why? Because it makes the overall forum look dead.

Won't ever happen here.

Is there any particular wording that you would like the notice to say?

~Sheena

Had not thought about that yet...

Maybe:

"Please set your Profile up to Receive Email when you get a PM

Otherwise, if you don't sign onto the forum, you will never know if someone wants to talk to you
."

You got a better way to say it?
