Need some help, please...the cassette drive in my 1990 GL1500 SE does not work. Everything else works GREAT. When a tape is inserted, and the radio/tape button is pressed for the tape to play, nothing happens.

The display on the dash shows the tape symbol (indicating the tape is playing) but the tape is not moving at all....I press both the FF & RW buttons, but nothing happens.

I can eject the tape, reinsert it, remove it and try another tape that I know works...but nothing.:(

Mechanic at local HONDA shop said it's probably the drive belt...he did not look at it, but just gave his opinion (he would have gladly looked at it for $ 70/hr, whereas his opinion was FREE).

Anyone have similar ideas...or new ideas as to what the problem may be ?

Also, how do I get to the drive belt to check it ? :stumped:

Thanks in advance !!! :)

only way to get to the belts is to take the radio apart. if you don't feel like trying that yourself, contact Sierra Electronics. While you are inside the radio, you might as well do the AUX input mod.
