Hi, I'm new to this forum and need help. In April 2009 I purchased a used 1800 Gold Wing. I checked theCB when purchased and it was transmitting. I never use the radio except when I ride in a group. The problem: When the bike is side by side I do not get reception and I can not transmit. When we are 5 to 8 bikes away the same problem. I can only send and receive when I am approximately 50 feet apart and when I do my volume is very low and static. I have had the SWR checked by a professional and they brought it within the range, but it was not that far out. I have checked all wires and connections and everything looks fine. The problem is still present. On my old bike, a 1999 Valkyrie Interstate I did not have problems with the CB and was usually the clearest in the group.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks.

Is yours an 06 airbag model? There is a service bulletin for that model, relating to CB noise and transmission problems. You will find the bulletin by clicking the Buying Used Goldwings link in the menu at the right of the forum.
