I'm doing some work on my 80 GL1100. Cylinders 1 and 3 aren't firing properly so I'm starting with the ignition system. I was told that the stock coils on the 1100's were weak and that I should replace them with coils from a CBR. Does anyone have any input on this?
I know there are are threads on the forum with details of alternative coils, but I don't remember from which bike. Run a forum search and you will find the threads.
Try the spark boxes first. They are cheaper. Easy to check. Just swap the conectoins and see if the problem switches to the other side. The spark boxes on mine are from a. Suzuki gs1000 as any four cylinder bike spark boxes will work
