I thought I had posted this earlier but it doesn't show up. Some of you know that I have had problems with my tuning switch on my radio. I recently bought one from a '87 Aspy and when I checked it, it only had 4 wires and the one on my bike had 5. I originally thought I couldn't use it.
Well, I split the cover that covered the wires to my switch and found the common wire was spliced so the mute button had power which meant I only had 4 wires in the cable just like the one I bought. Being lazy and not wanting to remove the fairing, I simply spliced the cable into my existing wiring.
I still don't have the tune down capability but I can once again reliably change stations on my radio.
I cleaned and degreased the top of the turn signal unit as well as the newer switch and glued the two of them together. The newer switch had a mount and mounted vertically instead of horizontally like my old one did. Here's a pic of the finished job.
Hey thanks! I still have the old switch but just couldn't get it to work right for some reason. I hope to take it all apart sometime soon and see if I can trace the wires back to the plug and figure out why I can't tune down.
