Bought a pair of Dual 4" speakers, as my old speakers could not handle the new higher powered radio. Cost $30, and they sound pretty good. Clear at 85mph, so I would give them a big thumbs up. Thought I would share.

Do you recall the exact name of the speakers you purchased? I bought a pair from Wally World also and they are really not at all satisfactory? I think they were a little larger, maybe 4 1/2", but at anything above 50 mph they are worthless. I am using an mp3 player but the radio is the same. It seems to have enough volume but at higher settings it is so distorted that you can't understand the 'noise' you are listening to?

DUAL...........Thanks, I'll look for them next time I go to Wally World. The LED's are a Plus, you know it is difficult to get too many lights on a Wing! ;)

4" is correct for the GL1200 fronts.

Depends how you are measuring them so it can be confusing. Also, speaker sizes are a bit inexact as some are sized in inches and some are actually a close metric size but advertised in inches for the US market.

I have them in the front. The front is supposed to be 4.5" but the modification is minor with the clip nuts you only have to ream the holes a little. I am happy with them for the price, but will be moving them to the back and getting some Focal 100CVX's for the front. Heard them at Car Toys and was very impressed. Mow I'm waiting for a good day at the casino to get em. Problem is that now that I have the ASPY, haven't found time for the casinos...funny how a Wing can make your bank account grow... and I thought it was because of the mileage I was getting.

Hi I was just looking at these the other day in Walmart wondering if they were any good, Do you happen to know if they have polypropylene cones and rubber surrounds are are they paper cones with foam surround?

Thanks

Anyone tried these in an 1100 aspy or know if they would work?

Dual is still a great brand, however prob not the quality we had many years back! remeber Sansui, or Klipsch LaScalla would love any of these or even some JBL's!

I got the ones without the blue LED's. Maybe a mistake, but for all of $30, I didn't care.

Hey Thanks for this info I need 4 of these so for 60.00 thats a deal.

I put a pair of cheap speakers in the rear a couple of years ago.

They were much better than the disintegrating ones that were there.

But the other day I was surprised to hear how bad my speakers sound without my helmet on.

I too will pick up a couple sets of these and redo my tunes.

Thanks for the info link too.

I put them in last year, bike sits outside in the rain... sprayed both sides of speakers

with polyurethene... ( does not affect sound )

Hey Mohawk - just buy one set at first. The DUAL brand speakers that are referenced here are only 4" and while they should fit in the rear of your 1500 (and the front on 1200s), they will likely be too small foryour front application.

Front speakers for the 1500 are almost as rare as hen's teeth. They are stated as 4 1/2" but try to find any that size. I just put in a set of Polk 5" (DB501) and they are actually about a 1/4" smaller than the originals, so thereis nota set standard in how manufacturers measure speaker size.

i put an amp on my bike, works great at any speed.

I put in pioneer 4" from best-buy, poly-propylene woofers to take h20 abuse, sound ok but there is slight bass distortion when turned up since they are smaller than the factory oddball size speakers. I should have been patient and ordered those on-line factory size replacements from that company that I can't remember the name of, many here know it. I saw that someone here shoe-horned in a pair of 5-1/4" speakers, I may try that.
