How do you remove the lighter installed on the right side of the fairing just below the speaker on a 1200? Thanks:waving:

Welcome to the forum Anthony.

It's a PITA!

Pull the front, right running light off and you should be able to reach in there with a long pair of needle nose pliers. I had take mine out a few weeks ago because it wasn't working, after fussing around for about a half an hours, I plugged the GPS in and it started working, and has worked ever since. So Im guessing it was a lose wire connection. I will tell you to not remove the mirror and the bolt that hold the windshield in place at the same time. The bolt for the windshield holds a metal piece that the mirror bolts to, if it falls off it's a real pain to get that back in place.

I haven't looked at a 1200 very closely since I sold mine, a few years back, but as I recall, if you remove the lockable compartment you can reach your hand in throught the hole it fits into and you can reach the back side of the lighter through there.

As I say, I'm not sure because I can't picture the exact location, but it's a pretty good size opening when you remove that compartment.
