Classic Wing exhaust pipes

I am speaking of my 1979 'wing. Has anyone put on aftermarket pipes? I have a set on mine right now and I also have the stock pipes. I would like to get something between the stock pipes that are heavy and restrictive and my "shorties" that are much too loud and may be hindering my carb mixture.

Any advice for aftermarket exhausts? There does not appear to be a glut of choice out there.

I don't know about the '79, but I had Jardines on my 86 that I liked. Not too noisy but still had a good sound.

Motad still do the M10H for the GL1000. Sounds very nice and doesn't interfere with running at all. But they are not cheap as they are made of stainless steel. Details here at http://www.performancemotorcycleparts.com/exhaust_pages/stainless_steel_headers.htm

thanks, but I imagine after they get through shipping those across the pond and with customs, etc. I am looking at more than half of what I paid for the whole bike!

the headers on mine are not in bad form, just need the muffler pipes.

thanks.
