hi guys just got a used 85 or 86 1200gw interstate and it needs work. i've owned a harley for the last 12 years. here is my question i'm looking on the internet for a clutch master cylinder that goes on handlebar i've looked on e-bay and sable cycles and couple other places can't remember,no luck. need more links if anybody has any you trust.bike is in very good condition and ridable just needs tlc. guy i got bike from said had rebuilt but only lasted a week, the one i have has busted sight glass and don't know if it can be replaced. hate to go to dealership because of cost and they are trained to work on new bikes and will be doing same thing i am using the manual. i am mechanically inclined, have to be when you own an older harley, so doing majority of work myself. any help or links would be appreciated that has complete master cylinder would be of great value. thanks

Here is one on E-Bay now. However if the only thing wrong with yours is the sight glass, it can be repaired.
It can be plugged or have a watch crystal put in place of the old plastic.
If you spend the time with it it can look nice. The faded and leaking sight glass is very common on the 1200 clutch and brake masters. Honda only sells the entire master cylendar for a high dollar. When you pry out the old plastic, there are two small aluminum pieces. Don't loose those. Then the hunt is on for the perfectly sized replacement. The watch crystal works best, but no one wants to sell them online unless you buy a case. Some people just use JB Weld and a dime to plug the hole.
Use the search function(look for sight glass).
Good Luck

There is a recent thread in the search for this forum. Go to the search type in dime repair or master cylinder dime repair and read that. I recently used the technique and loved it. It works really well.
