well i just started riding my recently restored gl1000, bike hasn't ran for 8years, so when i take it out and shift from first to second gear it goes into nuetral sometimes first otherwise it shifts out fine. Is this commonon something that has set for so long or should i be worried. Maybee im not shifting up into second hard enough im just trying to be gentle for a bit untill i know everything works good.

Neutral is a position on the gear drum so it is possible to sometimes stop there when changing up or down - my 1800 does this on occasions when I get a bit lazy.

Just do not force anything. :leprechaun:

I think all the Wings require shifting with "Authority" Many guys will actually pratice pre-loading the shifter before pulling the clutch to ensure a good shift.
