No, not the same.. 82 and 83 have low reisistance primary (0.5 ohm) and nearly impossible to find new... lots of people selling the 3 ohm (or 3.5 ohm) version used in 80-81 and they call it good for all GL1100.. it is not... There are lots of bikes and cars out there that use the low resistance (0.5 ohm)dual output coils so I am sure that with enough looking you could find something that would work even if the brackets were wrong.. I was looking at the dyna DC111 and it looks like it is the right spec... and comes in pairs.. just need someone as a guinea pig...
