I am looking at buying a 1997 white coloured Goldwing SE. Does anybody have any comments about this particular year. I looked at the bike this morning and it shows well. It has 40000kms. and has always been maintained by the dealer. I would appreciate any input. thanks Tom

What year is the bike you have now Tom? The 97 sounds great, except for the color of course.:goofygrin:

exavid, my current wing is an 1980 Goldwing 1100 interstate. I have been having all kinds of problems this year, but I have most of them solved. My bike is currently in the shop being tuned (carbs). I cleaned them myself but could not get it to stop backfiring. I also had a small leak. However my son is interested in my 1980 so I will pass it down to him.

To my limited knowlege the 97 is a great year, it has the Valykrie heads and gears in it , including the final drive!!

Would love to have one myself!

And the White is awesome!:clapper:

wingdawg101 & exavid, thanks for the replies. I thought I would let you know that I just purchased a 1999 Goldwing SE, anniversary model that looks like it just came out of the box. It has only 17000 Km. on it and the gentleman I bought it from is a real fuss pot. I can hardly wait to pick it up tomorrow or Thurs. I hope it runs as well as it looks. Have a nice weekend. Tom

Congratulations Tom, post us a picture of the new bike!

The bike is white with grey/green on the panels. I am truly excited, but you know what! I rode my 1980 GL1100 home from the shop last night and it has never ran better. I suppose my son whom I will pass it on to will be smiling. Thanks for the replies. Tom

Yes Tom, your son will be smiling:D. Especially as you have already put in the blood, sweat and tears, not to mention the $$$. :Xbut at least he gets a decent bike, instead of some high speed sports thing, which are uncomfortable, too quick, and you can't fit the kitchen sink on. :(. Funny how sons follow in their fathers footsteps, especially when dad's paying!!:baffled:. With two of my own and two that com with the girlfriend, I am due to be pennyless for a few years to come!!:X. But my eldest rides and we get a bit of bonding going out on rides, so that is a bonus:cool:.

Good luck with the new one and keep the keys hidden, otherwise you know what comes next........ !!

So what color is the new bike? Not white I hope. That really isn't a fast color you know. Just ask REDWING. :tongue:

I think you need a loan of Redwings glasses Paul. The colour of Tom's new Wing is;

"The bike is white with grey/green on the panels."
If memory serves me well, I think that would be the Mercedes Green.

Fellows, I can't believe this new machine. I drove into Toronto to work today and turned around and went to Niagara Falls. Thats what you call a mental health day. Tomorrow is a national holiday here in Canada so my wife and I are riding 260 miles to the cottage. I CAN'T wait till morning. I hope everyone has a great weekend and ride safely. I also hope you guys out there keep posting because it is so enjoyable reading all this stuff. Tom

Tom, the way I look at it, a good Goldwing is a hell of a lot more fun than money in the bank. As for the money, six months later you won't notice it, but you'll still be having a ball with the Wing. Enjoy, the whole summer is ahead!
