Couldn't get main needle out

I just redid my carbs, all is great now. While cleaning, I could not get the main needle out of the piston on 3 of them. I was afraid of damaging them, the screw is in so tight. If I take them off again in the future, how do I get them out? Just PB blaster soak? or heat of some kind? Maybe very hot water?

On a slightly related note, I forgot to put the straw back in between the plenum halves. I had them back in the bike and running before I noticed it on the floor. Is it worthwhile to take it out for that? It is only for the accel pump circuit, I believe when you go full throttle (which is not very often for me, since I'm a "scaredy cat")

the apin of taking them back out will pay off when you get it done right. I rode around for 3 months before deciding to take them back out and see if I missed anything. Sure enough I did, and now the bike runs better than ever.
In regard to the extra parts!!! REALLY?

Put the parts back in they are there for a reason that may not be noticeable top you right now.
