Hi all. I am new to the forum and trying to figure this all out. Hope someone can help me. I have a 96 Goldwing SE with a cruise control issue. If I set my cruise for example at 60 mph the cruise will set, then the bike will surge up to about 65 mph and then back off to 60. It will continue this pattern until I decide I've had enough and turn it off. Anybody ever dealt with this?

Change out your speedo cable for less than $20 and I'll bet the problem disappears.

Have you experienced this before? I just thought the unit itself was bad, but I guess its better to start repairs at the cheap end and go up. Thanks

One other thing you can check is that the actuator cable isn't too tight. If there's excessive slack in the cable you get slow response when you set the cruise if too tight it can get overly active.
