Hi guys, I've to start with this new topic although there's comments on cruise control before this but I could'nt find the solution yet. My cruise control is not fuctioning and I've check the followings:

a. Both Cruise check 'on' light and set light is working when the ignition switch turn on and goes off after the engine start.

b. During driving the cruise light'on' when press the 'on' switch and remain 'on' until I off.

c. The cruise set light 'on' when I press the cruise set switch and remain 'on' unless I do the following:

(1) Press front brake lever or

(2) Press foot brake or

(3) Press the clucth lever or

(4) Close the trottle.

d. I've check the cable connection betweem actuator to the carburator and it seem working without obstruction.

So I need help from you smart guys in this forums which I thinks the best goldwing forums. Thanks.

Somewhere towards the front of the bike, I think its on the left side you will find a vacuum diaphram with a vacuum hose going to it. You must have suction in that line to operate the cruise. If a fitting has broke or come off it will not allow the cruise to run your throttle. It might be that but it could aldo be one of your micro switches on your brakes or clutch that will not allow it to engage.

I HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE MICRO SWITCH ON THE FRONT BRAKE LEVER, IT SIMPLY WORE OUT. A NEW SWITCH CURED THE PROBLEM. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HEAR THE SWITCH ' CLICK ' WHEN YOU PULL EITHER THE CLUTCH OR BRAKE LEVER. ITS A GOOD PLACE TO START BEFORE YOU START PULLING BODYWORK TO PIECES.

Thanks for the replies, I dont thinks it's the micro switch since all the check light functions to every movement of the switch. The vacuum actuator also had been check and it works every time I suck directly from the suction hole. The only thing I've not check whether the cruise valve is functioning. Anyone faced similar problems please advise. Tq

IS THEREAR BRAKELIGHT CONSTANTLY ON, THIS WOULD INDICATE THE CRUISE CUT-OUT SWITCH IS ON TOO.

I dont think so, the rear brake function as usual, it will off the set cruise switch whenever I depress the brake padel. Thanks

So to be clear, .... you are saying both lights(cruise and set) are on when you activate the cruise set button, but the cruise isn't working?

Sometimes there is a lag( can be 5 seconds) before the cruise kicks in and resumes the set speed.

Rahim, I let go of throttle after I hit set button and it never disconnects, maybe the switch on throttle connection bad, it does take a few seconds to take over. Mel

Yes, both lights set cruise and cruise is on. May be I'll try to wait a little longer for a few seconds for the cruise to kicks in as suggested. Again Tq guys.

Great forums and great guys. Today I managed to engaged the cruise control. I think Mr Dusty is wright, I waited for almost 7 seconds until the cruise start to kicked in. Once the cruise is functioning, no more lags and tried few times. Or may be it was because I replaced new OD bulb which was blown before this. Anyway TQ very much guys.

That lag time can be shortened but I just smack the up button 4x as soon as I engage and no problem.

My cruise has no more slag. I think the vacuum and cable are in great shape. Tq

Wonder why Honda changed the cruise operation from the 1200. It was "instant" on when you punched it.

May be the lag was because of something else and not the systems.
