Cruise Control Question, GL1500

I have a '99 1500SE. Yesterday while traveling 75 mph down the interstate, with the cruise set, for no reason at all it was like I twisted the throttle full open and the bike started to accelerate. I hit the brake which should have disengaged the cruise and the throttle was still wide open. Had to turn off the cruise before it would idle down. Set the cruise again, no problem to my destination. Coming home, again with the cruise set at 75 mph, the cruise just disengaged by itself. Still was on but not set. Reset the cruise and it worked fine for the rest of the trip. I am thinking this is going to be a ECU unit problem but thought I would ask here to see if anyone else had ever had a similar experience. Thanks for any help.

Before blaming the ECU, all inputs need to be verified like: TPS, feedback loop(s), voltage of ECU +5 and input voltages. Blaming the ECU is too early. What type of control is on the bike and examine throttle controls carefully.

The control is the stock cruise control by Honda. I haven't torn into the bike to check anything yet as I was waiting to see what comments I got from this forum before I made my next move. As far as the throttle controls go, there doesn't seem to be anything amiss with them as far as I can tell. What really throws me is that after it acts up, I can reset it and it will work fine. There is no set pattern as to when it throws it's fits, it is just random. I had the cruise disengage once when we were on vacation in July, but reset it and it never gave us any more problems, until yesterday. Can't believe it is vacuum as it works fine, other than it is a little slow engaging when you set it, but even that varies, some times it is almost instant and other times it takes a few seconds.

I would bet on the simple stuff. Like the cruise control buttons.

Follow Steve's how to on cleaning them and see if that don't end your problems. As of now, it is on the main page of each of the forums, right side at the bottom.

It is also listed in the Help Index.

I will clean the buttons and see if that fixes the problem and thanks. By the way,I can't find the link to the "How toClean the cruise control buttons". Could you please postthe link or point me in the right direction.
