The cruise switch is inop and needs replacement. If I take the screws out of the bottom of the module will it come apart neatly? Or will all kinds of springs and foreign objects come flying out? Has anybody ever replaced the cruise control on the gl1800?

My experiance with any kind of switch is it will most likely have springs and small parts in there. So be carful.

I have not taken a cruise control switch apart on an 1800 or a 1500 either....so I am no help.

Maybe you can get some electrical contact cleaner and spray in there and clean it out.

When you split the handlebar cluster you won't lose anything. You only need to be careful when you open up individual switches inside the cluster.

Chances are it's just some crud in the switch and can be easily cleaned. What are the symptoms?
