timing belt slipped and all four valves bent. got right side head on ebay and when i try to tighten the cam carrier the cam shaft binds. could the head be warped this bad or do i have the wrong head. the functioning parts of it all look the same but i noticed unmachined areas of it from the casting look slightly different but these areas dont seem like they should matter. the head supposedly came off a running engine.

When you bought the head, did you get the whole mess, cam, pulley and all?

Get s strait edge, and criss cross it in an X pattern to see if it has been overheated. If it as, it could be warped. I have the same delima. I want to find out if an 80 GL1100 Head will fit on a 1983 1100 Aspencade. I do know the 80 thru 82 will swap out evenly. The engines are the same, but the gearing ratio on the interstate is lower, as the Aspencade, using less RPM's in 4th and 5th gear. I am uncertain about the 83
Good Luck,

I have been wondering about this...my baby seems to run high rpm's..almost direct drive..I want longer legs for her. At the moment I'm dealing with the intakes..but would be interested in knowing if I can lower her gears without major issue.
