Maybe you should do a search and go to the slightly older version of deer alerts thread, it should keep you busy reading for a day or two

Did you mean that yours isn't functioning properly?

Mine are working great I haven't hit a deer yet. Mind you, if I have a deer alert fitted on my bike, I haven't found it yet!!!!

( are they standard fitments on the SE?:cheeky1::cheeky1:)

You know...it's probably not a nice thing to have done...but let me tell you a deer alert story...

A freind of mine...we'll call him Billy...went out and baught himself a nice shiny set of chrome deer alerts for his car. Billy was all excited because just a couple weeks before that he had to buy a new car. Billy had hit a deer and totaled his most prized posession, his 1981 Ford Escort.

So now with his new car ( a Ford festiva) He was determined not to hit any deer. Well he and I are talkin about his new deer alerts and I'm not sure what cruelty bug shimmied up my leg but I heard myself ask him with a straight face " Did you make sure you put them on facing the right way?"

Billy with terror in his eyes asked " Um why?
I says " Well if you put them on backwards they will actually attract deer to your car"
Billy's eyes get about another inch bigger and looks at me and says" No way!"
I says "Well, think about it, if it makes em go away one way, it would obviously have the exact opposite effect if they were backwards."

So now BIlly is flat out pannicked. He leaves imediately and goes back o the store to look at a package of deer alerts to see which is the right way to put them on.

The next day Billy is still worried about how his deer alerts are going to work. So I tell him to just drive around at night with the window down and listen for the sound the deer alerts make to see if it's the right pitch or not.

Billy asks me how to tell if it's the right pitch. I says to Billy...again with a straight face "Watch for deer if you hit any they must be on backwards."

So billy comes back in a couple days and he tells me he's been tryin to listen for the pitch but he can't hear anything but the wind in his face. So I told him his deer alerts must be deffective.

Now here comes the fun part. Billy writes to the manufacturer about his defective deer alerts. They write him back and basically tell him that if the deer alerts are not properly instaled by a certified technician they can not garuntee their perfomance.

So billy just goes and buys yet another set of shiny chrome deer alerts for his Festiva. But he is now faced with the dilema of getting the orignal set off. Well I helped him with that and helped him install the new ones.

They are still on his car as far as I know, and he has yet to hit a deer. He did however hit a cow.
