I got my air compressor off and on the bench, can I dry the desiccant out or buy more. The book says blue when dry and white when wet. 93 1500

put the desiccant on some aluminum foil, turn up the edges.

place that on a cookie sheet, put it in the oven at 150°F
or a bit more.... don't get wild with the temp, you can destroy the stuff.

when it turns blue, it is ready to go back into service.

you can use the Microwave also: ( no foil though!!!! )

Had to weld the busted compressor mount. The compressor will come out with the trunk still on the bike.

I had the same broken bracket at the same point when I bought the bike too.
How did you get the wires disconnected from the pump, I know there is a filter in there but I saw no way to get the rubber cover off without pulling the wires out by the roots unless there is a plugin inside.

This picture may give an idea to remove that rubber boot. There wasn't any difficulty as far as I remember.
I think I had to pull the wire terminals off from the connector in the second picture.

Its pretty cheap to buy new (Item # 4)....!!

https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/1993/gl1500se-a-gold-wing-se/air-pump

Subtract the "electric cost" for the Heat Gun or the Stove and even less invested.

I have been told the only thing cheap about a Gold Wing is the "owner"....!!

We replaced it with new when rebuilding the 1989 Gold Wing Trike.
I ordered new from Partzilla, but it must have been on the shelf for some time as it came pre-dampened, so I had to bake it out, anyway.

on the shelf or not, if there is the slightest pin hole leak, over time, that stuff will pull in moisture.

We had no problems when ordering it from Partzilla.........!

Sometimes the "glass" is half full (not half empty).................

The desiccant in my '82 pump is always white, as humid as it gets around here, it's white 5 minutes after you turn it blue.

Still works good though.

Oh and by the way!

If you're an Engineer, which is my cross to bear.

The glass is always twice as big as it needs to be!! :grin3:
