You spend a hour or so fixing something and still need to replace it? My Hondaline voltmeter hasn't worked since I put the fairings on. So source up a new voltmeter and a clock to replace the clock that looks like it survived nuclear winter. One of the guys i do business with has started a new line of gauges, so he comped me a pair to try. Unfortunately, they are smaller than the Honda gauges, so I would have to make a panel insert to adapt them and fill the other holes.
While I was taking the wiring apart I realized that the voltmeter didn't have any power on the post on the rear. After tracing down the power to a dirty connection in the harness, and a loose connection under the steering weight. I reassembled the panel to test it out. The meter works, but is approx 2 volts off, and 3 volts off of the battery voltage. I should have just built the new panel for the new gauges and not wasted the time to fix the old ones.
I am going to install a relay to insure that the new voltmeter will get the voltage from the battery pole. Jay
