I saw a video here the other morning of a winger riding the twisties somewhere in the mountains. I live in Julian ca. San Diego county. This is a very popular day trip destination for bikes. We have literally hundreds of them up here on a good weather weekend. At least one or two of them get picked off every weekend andit's usually a fatal or close to it. The roads up here are mostly two lane and very tight turns in places with little if any shoulders. The thing that gets them most of the time isn't a lack of the bike riders skill's it's the flatlanders up here in the suv's or cars gawking at the scenery and not paying attention to there driving and they go over the center line coming through theturns and take out the bikes head on. Riding hard like the they are doingin the video might be fun but your sure rolling the dice and if it comes up craps too bad.

Yep, the squids give motorcyclists a bad name.

But there's a big difference between taking a lot of risks without experience, and a skilled/experienced rider pushing, but not exceeding, the limits of what can be done on a bike.

Those guys getting whomped in the California canyons are kinda asking for it anyway, no matter how good they either are or think they are, they must know that there's a lot of tourist traffic on those roads.

You might be talking about the "Dragon's Tail". It is in N.C. and has 318 turns in 11 miles. If you do a www search and type in dragons tail, it will give you lots of info. I have a friend that is going there very soon with some other bikers. He invited me, but I can't get away.
