Drink Holder

I'm planning to go on a Iron Butt ride and I'm looking at options for keeping water easily available at a low cost. There are many drink holders on the market, but I really don't want to have one all the time and I certainly don't want to buy one for one ride.

I was thinking of resting a water bottle in the right side fairing pocket and tie a lanyard to it so it won't go far if it happens to jump out. What's the foolishness in this idea?

get a 2 bucks cheapo drink holder at autozone and tie it to the handlebars

We got a 4 pack of simple cup holders for about $3, Wallyworld, Napa, etc.

It hangs on the bar that goes to the wind deflectors on each side of the bike, one for me one for the wife. Coffee travel mugs, water bottles, coke bottles, no problem.



Only issue is is hangs in front of the CB but you can still get around it to adjust squelch if you need to. If you want it off the bike it just unhooks.

Just remember, what goes in must come out. It may not save you much time having a cup attached to the bike. If not stopping for a drink you may be stopping for another reason.

I mounted a chrome Caddie-Bouy (~$10) on the handle bars. It is a little small, but I seldom use it. I hangmy FM modulator and MP3 player in it.

You can alway put a case or 30 pack of beer in the trunk.

You can not drink and ride anyway !!! :cheeky1:

I attached a 1 litre water bottle holster onto one of my Wind Wing brackets, which my water bottle rest/sits in.



It works OK but I found the water got warm before too long. I then cut up an old closed cell foam sleeping pad to line the holster to help insulate it and I now use a double walled 500 ml Stainless Steel Thermoswater bottle. Good for rides up to 3 hours or so, but too small for longer rides.

If you have no wayof mounting something along this line, then you may want to think about a hydration pack

Since I already had a small pack, I just bought a 2 Litre bladder to stick in it. Works very well and you have a large supply of water that is easy to drink often from.

Have you considered one of the Hydration vests? A tube hangs near your mouth anf you just insert it into your mouth. Keeps bothfree andeyes on the road. Low as $24.99 at Target. Heres a link. See the bottom of the ad for the cheaper one. The dirtbike crew up north swear by them, as do long distancebicyclists.

I just lay a bottle (with a squirt type top) in the rear seat. It will sit there as long as it's at least half full. Below half and I have to worry about it on curves. So buy a water bottle - add some weight to the bottom - or tie it to something and let it rest there.

I went to a store called Staples here which sells office equipment and bought a pencil meshed holder. two plastic ties and away I went. Total price $3.00.:waving:
