Always riding with earplugs I've battled the comfort issue for years. Tried several brands, including Eargasms which are kinda spendy. They were the best, but still left something to be desired in terms of comfort and sound attenuation. Fidelity was excellent though for my Sena comm system.
Had an idea last evening and grabbed a pair of Peltor Sport Tri-Flange earplugs I've had on my desk for some time. These work well for blocking sound AND the fidelity is decent...but because my left ear canal is wonky, the plastic stem in the plug causes me discomfort. How much discomfort depends on how far I ride. At some point clawing off my left ear can seem like a welcome solution.
I believe the photo is self explanatory, but you'll see a stock pair, then the plastic stem I removed, then the pair that is modified. Perfect comfort and I can even sleep with them, which is the ultimate test for earplug comfort.
