Hi,

I have been reading some posts on the stator harness. I just installed one and when I turned the key on my bike the bike has nothing, no power of anykink. I have checked and re-checked all the connections and installation instructions and all looks good. The only od thing on the hook up is that the blue wire from the relay has a female end and both b/w wires from the coils have female ends also so I installed a male end on the b/w wire from the coil, could not figure out why they had a female end on the blue. Is this wire supposed to plug in some other way / place?

I have checked the battery, fuses, all connectionsand selonoid wires and all seems ok.

I turned the key on before beginning installation and all was fine and the bike has been running great before this.

Any help or ideas where to look for the problem?

Thanks, Tim in Ohio

I believe there was some discussion of an error in the directions with the EC harness. You might try a search using the box above on EC harness. Probably the simplest and quickest thing is to go to the EC website, get their phone number and talk to them, they can probably straighten (sort) this problem out quickly. I'm sure you are probably not the first one to have a problem with it.

There are several fellows on the forum who've installed the EC harness so they will probably be chiming in with a bit of help soon.

Welcome to the forum ishi! :waving:

I didn't install the EC harness so can't comment on the setup (I did the DC kit) but on my 83 GL1100 theconnectors on the coilsare male.

Maybe yours are not the original coils? :stumped:

I know several other members have installed the EC harness and am sure one will comment on his set-up.

I don't understand why you lost ALL power though. Yousoldered bothred wires youcuton the solenoid to the black wire on the harness didn't you? (I'm assumingthe EC harnessis similar to the DC harness. May be wrong about the colors or procedure).

Ohm out the fuses to make sure of continuity. They may look good but not be.

I did mine this summer. I noticed that it was hard to see the the wires on the coils. Make sure you unplugged in to the right colors there. I also noticed that the wire to the selenoid was female and so was the coil wire that it hooks up to so I cut off a male connector and inserted between the 2 and all is working good. Check out this site it may help. http://www.geocities.com/captjerry4/stator.html

Thanks the linkprovided with pictures a good installation and IAM hooked up right. All wires are are correct and now I am looking past the harness installation. I am thinking the relay could be bad OR the regulator is bad. When I turn the key on nothing happen, there is no power going to the fuses box at all.

I did check for power at the new relay and the red/white wires coming from the battery that go to the regulator and the light goes on so it must be somthing in the ignition system. What would cause a total power failure when you turn the key on, it acts like the battery is not hooked up but it is and fully charged.

thank for the suggestion
