Greetings all,
I had the F1 code 26 which meant bad left knock sensor. I followed the directions to verify this by swapping the knock sensors to see if it was really bad. I got the same code26 which means the sensor is good. I t then said that probably bad ecu. they are really expensive. Bike runs good other than sometimes doesn't want to idle. Is there anyway to check the ecu to confirm it is bad? Some sources said could be corroded connections. that was my next step. any other way to check knock sensor? Any help will be greatly appreciated

been there, dun that on my '02

and like you, the ECM is bad.
I did a search using this tool, and found a wrecked bike just 35 miles from me, I scarfed up that ECM fast!

click on this link, save it.

look every day because stuff shows up and disappears in minutes....

gl1800 ECM on SearchTempest

MAKE SURE THEY LIST THE HONDA PART #
check all 5 years, for that year part #, any works from 01-05

I purposely searched for just 2 words "ECM GL1800"
you will get a lot of useless hits, but that is the only way you will find what you want.
More words narrows the search to fine, and you do NOT know how other folks name things.

for ECM, try ECU, try Module, Control,

you have to look and look, but one day, you will find one.

What year is your bike?
2001 thru 2005 all use the same ECM

as for how it runs with a bad knock sensor code?
just fine, a bit sluggish, and lower MPG.

it is in Limp Mode.
