It seems that '85 are notorious for electrical issues. Here's what I got. When riding normal my battery volts output registers 14.3-14.4. However, upon idling it drops to 12-13 range. When I start-up up the bike, it drops into the 9-10 range. Is that normal?
Last year I had to crimp some wires because the plastic case and wires had been "roasted." I also noticed the infamous stator wires - they were direct connect but the connections casings seem to be showing signs of "heat."
So, I plan on splicing, soldering and shrink wrapping all the wires. Do you think the wires are the issues? or is there something else (I know, big generic question) that causing a draw on my battery.
besides hardwiring the stator wires also do the same thing with the regulator connector and also replace the solenoid connector with the ato fuseholder mod
on the regulator connector, both red wires and green wires can be paired together for simplicity, also add a wire to the green's and wire to a frame piont since it seems the ground circuit is a little weak,my running voltage improved by .4 volts in doing so
