can only speak from my own experience which was putting a prestolite ignition on my '78 about 1979... still running and have never had to mess with it. I do realize that when electronic ignitions go, they go, but 26 years and 100,000+ miles aren't too bad

the thing I hated about the points was that right after you replaced them... great milage and performance for about two tanks... then never as good... 100,000 plus miles on the prestolite and I never have to mess with it
