Embarrassing moment...

I rode over to one of the local bike shops this afternoon to buy a helmet for my daughter. I arrived right at closing but they let me in. I found the helmet I was looking for, paid for it and was on my way.

I put everything away, donned my helmet & gloves, started her up and began rolling it back to get out of the parking space.

Given the fact that I'm 5'7" - 155 lbs. my balance "window" on this big mutha is fairly narrow.

Well in the process of rolling backwards, I let it get away from me and down she went...:doh:

I was able slow her fall so she didn't hit very hard. It rocked over onto the engine/bag guards. So there was no damage except for my pride... :baffled: :rollingeyes:

Several employees rushed over to help me stand her back up BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL OUTSIDE TO PUT THE BIKES AWAY!!!!

DOH!!! How embarrassing.... :blushing:

Let me be the first to welcome you to the club:waving::cheeky1:.

Dropped mine 3 times since I've had it. First time it was at a Mc Donalds, fully loaded with camp gear and all. Forgot to "engage" the side stand :gunhead:. I don't know if anyone saw me do it. But I was able to lift her back up myself by useing the technique of putting your butt against the seat, holding the handle bar with one hand, and the grab handle on the seat with the other hand. Then useing your legs to "walk/push" the bike up.

It has worked very well each time.

Don't you just hate it when that happens. When mine went down on the right side a few weeks ago, I stepped off, faced it and lifted it up, then realized , the kick stand isn't down. Well I sure wasn't going to lay it down again and no way could I mount it so I did reach down and push the stand down. My back is still sore so always lift it the correct way.

Been there done that ....a couple times now :cheeky1:. Glad you didnt do an serious harm to you or the bike . Once they start to go over you can get hurt trying to stop it from happening . The good thing is ,now youve done and dont have to worry about it anymore . :action:ride on

Welcome to the club. I did it in Durango CO. at the motel. Parking lot was on an incline but I just let it get away.:X Was able to ease it down real slow then got off and backed up to it andwalked it up with the legs. Works every time. There were several Harley riders staying there also. Don't know if they were looking out their windows or not.

I have never dropped my bike or lost its' balance. Although a few times the wind blew it off the center stand.

I've dropped mine a few times, the worst one was in the garage. I was putting it on the center stand and I lost balance over to the right. The problem was there was lots of stuff over to the right, so when it was lying there on it's right side, I couldn't get over there to lift it.

I had to stand on the left peg and hold the left handle bar and left grab bar and stick my butt way out to get it to come up. It's amazing what you can do when you are embarassed.

How 'bout the 'Ol "no feat-down kickstand stop" upon arrival to your "first-date, never been on a bike before" Beauty.... and then missing it.

Let me tell 'ya, it takes a whole lotta work to keep that gameplan in motion.
Blaming it on the bike was the easy part,convincing her was a whole 'nother story.
Finally 'fessed-up that, "okay... okay..., so I'm not Chester the Cat".
Promised I wouldn't get her killed with my Top Cat approach, and then all was good.
Youth.... gotta love it.

Mine's never been dropped. I just lay it over once in awhile to stay in practice picking it up. :cheeky1:

There's two types of 'wing drivers............One's the type that hasn't laid the ol' girl over yet, and the one's that have.

I've dropped mine 3 times now.

I use the butt into the seat pickup method and it works real well.

I'm short stemmed and it doesn't take much of that 850+lbs to tip me over.

Yes, I think it's good practice to lay it down on it's side now and again... to prove I'm human. Whether that be outside a Tim Horton's, a Canadian Tire or in my front yard. Just to show the RIGHT way to pick it up to the... friends, Romans, countrymen lend me your rears?

:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1: My "best" was dropping a rented Road Glide (yes, standing still, and in slo-mo) at both ends of a village in Newfoundland...fortunately, the second time I was out of sight of the first set of witnesses!
