I just used some S100 on my 1100 and hosed it off. I usually dont get em that wet but it was pretty cruddy. Anyway, I took it out for a spin to dry it off and now it feel like its running on maybe 2 cylinders. Any suggestions? I was tempted to just keep riding it hoping it would clear itself out but I wasn't sure about damaging the engine running it like that.:?

take off the plg caps.... there should be a drain hole bewteen the plugs... you may have one that is blocked

Drain hole in the bottom of each plug well. Dielectric grease will help with moisture if you cover the inside of the plug boot.

Nope, but WD 40 won't last long.

I know the dielectric grease is best but all I have is the WD. I am trying to dissipate moisture. Could it be anything else but the plug caps?

Pretty much anything electrical. WD40 is good for displacing moisture, hence the name.

Thanks guys. I took the caps off and sprayed some WD in the head and inside the plug wire contacts. She fired up and ran normal.

Product called Wire Dryer is available at your local Auto Zone, NAPA, any parts store. Take the plug wires off spray in the boot and spray the plug top too. That should take care of it. Then unblock thedrain holes for the plug. If you got the coils wet you may need to do the same at the coils.

Make sure the drain holes on either side of the spark plug hole are clear, use a piece of thin wire to poke them out to make sure. If they're clear you probably wouldn't have had any problem. WD40 is fine to get it going, once it completely dries out you shouldn't have any more problems.

I agree with rcmatt007 (doc). My 1980 GL1100 does the same thing. I am careful now when I wash it, and always hand wash with a light detergent, or Honda' spray and rinse cleaner. It is amazing stuff. Then I polish it with Endust.

I wouldn't have a bike that couldn't run after a good soaking from a hose. You never know when your going to get caught in the rain with no place to pull off under cover. Find where the water is getting into the electrics and water proof it.

Ill parrot the others here, and say to clean out the drain holes. I did get stuck in a downpour once, and sure enough, she started running crappy. cleaned the drains (surprising how much crud gets in there) and never had an issue since

I agree with you on that point. However, I have been caught in some very heavy rain while riding this bike and have had no problems. I believe once the engines on these bikes are at operating temperature, they handle water easily. It just isnt engineered to take large amounts of water in certain areas while its not running.
