This is not unprecedented... None of the Valkryies came with center stands...

Why does this distress people so? The VTX doesn't come with a center stand either...
I kinda like it, yea center stand would be nice, but heck for the price just to have the trunk missing not bad. looks like alot of the standard wing stuff will work on it. I can see someone putting a trailerhitch on it.
And the view from the rear redefines the term 'butt-ugly'. Just my 2 cents.

When was the last time you pull 900lbs up on the center stands?
"...and then do it all again next weekend." ???

A Road Glide Bagger wannabe?

Trying to steal them potential Boomer-buyers from HD with a cut-down windshield, a "Gunfighter-style" seat (oh, ...Corbin's either in on it for the marketing cash or setting-up a lawsuit), and some chick half your age at a sidewalk cafe' just wanting to jump onto your credit card?

And NO! I ain't a Pessimist or even cynical - I do feel like I've been sold-out though. Problem is, I kinda like the thing except for its Victory-esque rear.
I must have been on the cutting edge when I removed the center stand on my brand new 1968 350 scrambler way back when. Wow, if I had only known....lol

I think without the contradicting top bag and side bags, the rear end finally makes some sense.

Probably would not buy one, as I get to still take my wife, but I think they will sell more of those than the full dress. Most motorcyclist that I know are not interested into going much further than 50 miles from home....
I didn't like it when I first seen it the other day. However I was looking at it as a dressed down, stripped down version of the 1800 which I don't care for.

When I seen it in action in the video, I was reminded by the F6B insignia that it's not a dressed down GoldWing at all, it's a dressed up, more powerful F6, Valkyrie!

Im liking it a little more........ Still want a taller windscreen though.

this afternoon......... almost everyday in the summer
I's not that hard if your a brut............. LOL
It's just very sad. A pro bowl football players son grows up to be a star soccer player and the dad dissownes him. It's just very sad,
Come on peaple be proud of the new child of the wing/

OH ....MY....GOD....THEY MATED A HARLEY WITH A GOLDWING:shock:
It actually looks good since the taillight /turn signal configuration at the rear of the bike does NOT match up with the trunk lights of the GL1800. Removing the trunk of the GL1800 , which has lights from the 1st half of the 1800 series, makes this bike look good. I just wish the GL1800 brake light/turn signal configuration had been redeveloped to go along with the current lower body work.

That's how I see it. This looks like something someone might do to their personal bike, not something from Honda.:lash: The least Honda could do is redesign the fairing so it doesn't look like a chopped down Goldwing. Then they could do something about those headlights.

This brings back memories of that thread a while back about the future of Honda and their plans for a "new family of big bikes". I think the questions posed have been answered. They are:

A) Trying to phase out the Goldwing, or at least recreate it, but in a gentle manner.

B) Trying to create a more "sporty" image for the brand

C) Trying to take a real stab at competing with HD finally

and D) they're putting the plan into action rather quickly.

All that said, even though I don't know if I'd call it a goldwing, I do rather like it. But then I always did have a thing for the Valk, and let's be honest, that's what it is. A new, hopped-up, dressed-up, more powerful and sellable Valk.

I don't even know that I mind it having the Goldwing name on it. Probably part of the strategy to compete with Harley. Think about it, aside from all the stupid numbers that nobody really knows anyway, Harley has the road glide with the dressier version called the road king, the electra glide, the wide glide, the dana glide... notice a pattern? Continuity between what are pretty different bikes. Makes it more of a "brand" thing than an individual bike thing.

Compare that to the current Honda line-up... Shadow, VTX, Valkerie (I know it's gone now, but humor me), Goldwing, N-something-01 or some such jazz, Rune, etc... These are all classed and sold as individual bikes and have their own followings.

Not a terrible idea if that IS what they're going for here. The Harley line-up may not offer much variety, but it sells, and that's what the bottom line is all about. If Honda wants to bring that kind of continuity to their line-up but still distinguish themselves from the hogs, why not use the GL as the basis for it?

That thing is missing the 30" front wheel....

I like this bike personally, and it's not supposed to take the place of the GL for touring. I would call it an updated Valk, just as the GL 1800 was an update! The center stand really a non issue imho... ;-))
