Hi all.

need some help

Rev counter has developed an intermittent fault.

At Idle it is reading 1200rpm (should be 8-900)

at 30mph reads 2000rpm (should be 1200)

At 60mph reads almost 4000rpm (should be 28-3000)

I have checked voltage at rev counter, all ok. ( getting battery voltage of 12.8 volts)

I have cleaned all contacts and the main plugs in wiring harness at instrument panel.

I have checked relay 3 and exchanged it for another relay, No difference.

Checked all fuses

Cleaned all earthing points.

Bike did this for about a week then problem cleared up. Has started again out of the blue.

Is possible resistor in counter has gone bad? :? :? :?

Any and all help greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

John

"at 30mph reads 2000rpm (should be 1200)"

That doesn't sound right, 1200rpm at 30mph seems way low to me.
