I am replacing my 1979 GL 1000 engine with another I just purchased and I cannot, for the life of me, find or remove the "snap ring" to remove the drive shaft from the engine; without this, I cannot proceed with engine removal; any ideas on what I am not doing,...or need to do. I have looked at both engines and removed the dust boot but still cannot find it,...hmmm,... Thank you.

The snap ring is on the output shaft, down inside the U joint. Difficult to get to. You'll need a 90 degree snap ring pliers with a short reach.
