Hi folks!

I am a complete novice when it comes to mechanics.. but there is loads to do on the bike... so I'm kicking off by fitting a new stainless exhaust.

Sorry if this has been asked loads of times... but, anything I should watch out for? or anything I should do whilst the old exhaust is off?

I have a Clymer manual - so should be ok... but I think its best to ask the experts first!

Thanks!

J

Hi J. The only problem I've had is that some of the exhaust studs break off, but the threaded part is thinner than the main part so you always have a big stud to get a vicegrips onto. It's nice to have a few new studs to hand for when this happens.

thanks for that Eamonn... do you know if the studs are a common size - available from a motor parts shop... of are they a special GW part?

Hello J. You can use ordinary bolts instead, or buy studs (don't forget they are metric threads). You are better off with the Honda ones for the reason that Eamonn1200
mentioned, ie when they break you have a good stump to get a grip on. If you buy standard studs and they break in the head later onyou are in trouble. Also the Honda studs are thinner and different thread at the pipes end, so if you decide to use a standard one thread/thickness stud or bolt, you will need to file the holes in the exhaust headers out a bit more for the thicker bolt to pass through.
