Fork Brace Broken (gl1200)

today while cleaning the wing, i found one of the ears of the fork brace broken. two bolts were lose and would make some noise and till today i found it was causing the noise. what could have caused this?

I think the broken ear was caused by the bolts getting loose and allowing the whole assembly to flex too much. You might want to the axle to make sure it's good and snug in the fork lowers, if there's any looseness ther it'll put an extra strain on the brace.

Hey Will, I have an extra brace if you want it. You would need the old bolts.

It was cracked in wreck a few months ago. Took a little time to break off.

I've heard of the stock brace cracking on the 12s, but in your case Exavid is probably right.

If those bolts were loose, you might want to check all the rest of them on the forks and wheel. Don't forget those pesky fender bolts.

yea the roads around here are rly rough, i used locktite on the fender bolts.
