Hi JJ and welcome. You need to remove the caps, but put a jack under the engine first and this will relieve most of the spring pressure and also prevent the bike diving severly. If the stock Honda springs are installed then it's easy enough to press down on them when putting the caps back on. You need to take the caps all the way out to get the oil in, unscrewing them a bit won't do it.
