Just purchased a 1993 1500 Interstate with 78,000 miles. The previous owner kept excellent records. The front end seems that it is not responding like it should. Has a swishy soft feel. I did hit a small pothole and bottomed out. Can changing the fork oil fix this?
Any pics/how to would be appreciated.
Thanks

That will be the easiest and cheapest thing to do first. If his records do not indicate that it has been done, that will be a good place to start. Try to catch all of the oil that comes out and compare the two sides to see if one had much more than the other. Also note the color. One of mine had a rusty brown look to it. When I rebuilt the forks, I had a broken, rusty back plate. If they are equal, do not assume they had the correct amount in there and without taking them apart you will not get all of the oil out of the tubes. Good luck.
