Hi MCFF,
It's pretty easy to get the forks out, if you have the tools.
Once the bike is jacked up and stable, drop the wheel and tie the calipers to the engine guards. Remove the fork brace and fender.
Now you'll need a short allen socket (I made mine) to loosen the 4lower triple clamp pinch bolts. Then loosen the upper pinch bolts and slide the forks out.
Note; there is a little clamp ring that has to come off the top. You'll know when you get that far what I mean, but it needs to be removed and replaced carefully.

BTW, 50 bucks is cheap.
